 Euan Ruddick

Marketing and Press Relations

Euan Ruddick AKA Big Wow has been at the forefront of marketing, design and the entertainment business for many years. His love of mentoring and helping people shine in their business has spanned many areas and he has amassed a huge following for his ability to reach out and has developed a friendship with the public and businesses alike.

His early years in life started as a buyer in the clothing industry and then went on to be the youngest ever appointed manager of Cecil Gee clothing in Glasgow at the tender age of 21, a position he held for many years.
From there on he started to develop his design and creative abilities by working alongside some of the biggest and most successful independent clothing companies and eventually he opened his own men’s clothing store in Ayr called Lepel Clothing and the Chinese Laundry for woman for which he designed and manufactured most of the clothes.

A change came around after 8 years and he ventured into his other love of life which is cooking and he opened up Big World Cafe in Prestwick which offered food from around the world, but a business partnership came to an end and saw Euan struggle to find an identity for the first time in his life. Euan admits that that dark period in his life was probably the building blocks of a deeper understanding of business and eventually his creativity once again kicked in and he created the very successful chain of stores called Original Shoe Company for a local businessman.

Euan continued to create and mentor and market businesses from takeaway food to aesthetic clinics eventually taking him to the stage and night club djing for which he was a resident DJ in Scotland’s longest-running nightclub Club De Mar creating the very successful Room Red. But marketing and his love of Ayrshire people saw him help develop the biggest independent news and media site in Ayrshire, supplying news, weather, travel and what’s on. It started as a fun hobby with his friend and 1 amazing volunteer and now enjoys a massive 1.5 million-plus monthly engagement. An important platform for the people and businesses of Ayrshire. It’s also allowed him to meet and interview celebrities over the years from the entertainment world politics and host major events.

But perhaps people will recognise him as the marketing guru of Steven Brown Art with his quirky jungle room to his popular Wednesday night live shows. Euan believes that no matter what your business is you have to give the public a journey of quality and fun to win them back into retail shopping, people love the enjoyment of shopping, we just need to try harder and make it more of a lifestyle that everyone can enjoy and that’s exactly his vision for 1517.

Euan is really excited for the future of 1517 and its new fresh approach to retail and with an amazing team alongside him, he promises to keep you up to date on social media and live instore entertainment.
His philosophy is very simple, all you have to do is let your light shine! when you do, people let their light shine back.
